Hi! I’m Helen. I married my best friend and I have a beautiful son. I have been in the human resources industry for several years now. One of the most inspiring things I have done is working with differently challenged people. In my experience they are the most committed people I have worked with.
Yes, there are challenges when somebody is appointed, but their ability to work without distractions is a big win. I once worked with a photo editor who was mute nor could he walk. Life was really difficult for him but he would finish anything he started; on-time and without anybody helping him.
There are companies that feel differently about employing a person with a different ability; fearing their fit into a team. Same goes with employing transgenders.
Everyone should be given the chance to be accepted for whoever they are. Most people say that counselling will help people choose their gender or help them be more acceptable. In my opinion, its the rest of the population that needs counselling to accept everyone.
In times when rape, abuse, inequality and hate exist; its the people who live normal lives with physical uniqueness that should be celebrated.
I make it my mission to reach out to these people and do my bit to help provide them with an equal opportunity.
